2012 OQ Goldstone Radar Observations Planning


Background


2012 OQ was discovered by the La Sagra Sky Survey in Spain on July 16, 2012. 
Not much is known about this object except that its absolute magnitude of 21.8 suggests
a diameter of ~0.14 km (within a factor of two).  2012 OQ belongs to the Apollo class of 
asteroids and it has been classified as a "Potentially Hazardous Asteroid" by the Minor Planet Center.

This object approached within 7.7 lunar distances on July 24 and it's now moving away
from Earth rapidly.  Its view periods overlap with times previously scheduled for 2002 AM31 on July 27 and 28.
We plan to devote some of our time to 2012 OQ on one or possibly both of those dates.
We are expecting 2012 OQ to be a relatively weak CW target.

Goldstone SNRs assume Ptx = 450 kW.  Only one klystron is functional, so
