(143651) 2003 QO104 Goldstone Radar Observations Planning


Background


(143651) 2003 QO104 was discovered by the Haleakala-NEAT/MSSS on  August 31, 2003.
Its closest approach will be at 0.095 AU (~37 lunar distances) on June 09, 2009, but due
to the size of the object (2.2 km) and very slow period (~112 hr), it will be a strong radar target.
We expect to image it with 0.125 usec resolution at Goldstone and 0.05 usec at Arecibo. The object's 
bandwidth (asuming subradar latitude=0 deg) will be ~2 Hz at Goldstone and ~0.5 Hz at Arecibo.
The large lightcurve amplitude (~1 mag) suggests an elongated shape.
 
This object will brighten below 14th magnitude in early June when it will
be a good target for photometric and spectroscopic observations.

2003 QO104 has been classified as a "Potentially Hazardous Asteroid" by the 
Minor Planet Center.
