3752 Camillo Goldstone Radar Observations Planning
3752 Camillo (1985 PA) was discovered on August 15, 1985 by E. F. Helin and M. A. Barucci at Caussols (France). Camillo has been observed extensively with optical telescopes. It has an unusually slow rotation period of 38 hours, a large lightcurve amplitude of 1.1 magnitudes that suggests a very elongated shape, and a diameter of about 2.3 km. The spectral class is unknown. Camillo will approach within 0.148 AU (57 lunar distances) on February 12, 2013, and despite the relatively large distance at closest approach, the signal-to-noise ratios may be strong enough for coarse-resolution radar imaging at Goldstone due to this asteroid's slow rotation period and large diameter. We plan to observe Camillo on Feb. 10-13 at Goldstone and from Feb. 12-16 at Arecibo. Camillo will be a strong imaging target at Arecibo. Camillo will reach 13th magnitude in February of 2013, when it should be an excellent target for spectroscopy, IR radiometry, and photometry. The times for Camillo also overlap times when 2013 BS45 will be observable, so we hope to get transmit authorization for that object as well. 2013 BS45 is roughly 20 meters in diameter and it will be much closer.

We are expecting a bandwidth of several Hz, so we're going to start with the CW setup below.
After we detect echoes, we'll switch to 10 and 11 usec ranging and then 1 usec imaging.
TX polarization RCP
RCV polarization LCP & RCP
Frequency hops: no hops
Bandwidth: 4000 Hz
Sampling interval: 2500 x 0.1 usec
VME FFT for PSD files: 4096 for 0.98-Hz resolution
Ranging setups:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
10-usec
baud 10 usec
code 127
PRP 1270 usec
FFT 128
ncoh 1
bandwidth 787 Hz
resolution 6.15 Hz
TXOFF +100Hz (echo in bin 64+16=80)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
11-usec
baud 11 usec
code 127
PRP 1397 usec
FFT 128
ncoh 1
bandwidth 716 Hz
resolution 5.6 Hz
TXOFF +100 Hz (echo in bin 64+18=82)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
1-usec
baud 1 usec
code 255
FFT 256
ncoh 6
bandwidth 653.6 Hz
resolution 2.55 Hz
TXOFF +50 Hz -> echo would be centered at 128 + 20 = 148
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
0.125-usec imaging
baud 0.125 usec
code 511
FFT 1024
ncoh 150
bandwidth 104.4 Hz
resolution 0.1 Hz
TXOFF +10 Hz -> echo would be centered at 512 + 98 = 610
