(136617) 1994 CC Goldstone Radar Observations Planning


Background


(136617) 1994 CC was discovered by Spacewatch at Kitt Peak on February 3, 1994.
Its closest approach will be at 0.0168 AU (~6.5 lunar distances) on June 10, 2009.
We only have rough estimate of its size (within factor of two of 0.92 km) based on 
its absolute visual magnitude of 17.7. Its period appears to be ~2.38 hr 
based on the lightcurves measurements. Assuming equatorial orientation, 
this would translate into ~35-40 Hz bandwidth at Goldstone. 
1994 CC will be an exceptionally strong radar target at both Goldstone and Arecibo 
and we expect to be able to image it with the highest available resolutions 
(7.5 m for Arecibo and 19 m for Goldstone).

This object will brighten below 13th magnitude in early June, but then it comes too close 
to the Sun for optical observations.

1994 CC has been classified as a "Potentially Hazardous Asteroid" by the Minor Planet Center.
